Ready for the Preseason

The first NFL preseason game is quickly approaching.  I am stoked to see NFL action.  I understand that some people do not care about the preseason.  Personally, I relish the chance to watch position battles and see how rookies adjust to the NFL.  August 11th is the first game.  If you want to learn about the process of building a truly good NFL team, then you must watch the preseason.  Here you will see teams move players around on the depth chart and discover the best players on their roster.  I hope you all enjoy the preseason and here is a video of some of the best plays from the past preseasons.

This segment is all about my predictions and why I think they will occur.

First, I predict that WR Derrick Mason (former Raven) will return and retire a Tennessee Titan.  He has been training with Titans all offseason and the fans/organization would love for him to return.

Second, I predict that WR Mike Sims-Walker (former Jaguar) will sign with the Tennessee Titans (sorry for two Titans predictions in a row).  He is friends with RB Chris Johnson and the Titans can use help at the WR position.

Third, I predict that the Dallas Cowboys will sign WR Braylon Edwards (former Jet).  The Cowboys need help at WR and with only Miles Austin and Dez Bryant, the ‘boys will be adding depth at this position.

Fourth, I predict that no matter how many free agents the Washington Redskins sign, they will still not make the playoffs.  They do not have the QB needed to lead the way and RB Larry Johnson is not the playing like his former self.

Fifth, I predict that the Buffalo Bills will have a worse season then they did a year ago.  They have lost some talent in the free agency and have not replaced anyone.

The Patriots do it again!

Today the New England Patriots have successfully added another talented player to their team for only a 5th round pick in the 2013 draft.  The Washington Redskins traded DT Albert Haynesworth to New England.  This is another example at the talent in the front office of the Patriots.  I believe Robert Craft (owner of the Patriots) and his employees are the best at what they do.  They continually make impressive moves in the NFL draft and they also bring out the best in their players.  Coach Bill Belichick has another toy to play with on his defense.

Reggie Bush a Dolphin?

Latest news updates say Saints RB Reggie Bush may be traded to the Miami Dolphins.  If this happens he has a good chance of being the featured running back.  His time in New Orleans is over, enter Mark Ingram.  I am curious to see what the Saints get in return for Bush.  It appears that the Dolphins will also be trading for QB Kyle Orton.  I assume they will not only give away drafts picks, but players as well.  Most likely defensive linemen will be involved  in the upcoming trades.  I believe Bush will find success in Miami.  He can play well and the Dolphins love to run the football.  Now I understand that Bush has been a bust, based on the projections of him coming out of college.  We will see if he can find his groove in Miami or if he will always be a situational Running Back.

Matt Hasselbeck going to Tennessee

Today the Tennessee Titans agreed to a deal with QB Matt Hasselbeck.  When I first heard that the Titans were interested in signing him, I was skeptical.  As I did some research, I found an interesting piece of information.  Matt Hasselbeck knows QB Jake Locker from his days playing college football for Washington.  With a relationship already established, Jake Locker will be able to accept Matt Hasselbeck’s advice and counsel.  I believe that they will form a strong bond that will forever dictate Jake Locker’s career.  I also believe that Matt Hasselbeck is going to be a better mentor than Kerry Collins (former Titans QB).  Collins was established in the NFL and understood the game, but his performance level had significantly diminished and Locker needs to be under the wing of someone who can still play at a high level.  Only time will tell if this acquisition helps Locker to become a solid NFL QB.
